Index drive has stable motion characteristics with high degree of division and is in high intensity structure without backlash. Therefore, torque limiter is a device developed for the purpose of protecting such index drive. Torque limiter is attached on the output axis of index drive safely protecting the index drive from overload.

Structure and operation
In case of overload, (6) flange is pushed back to (7). At this time, spring is pressed that internal ball is deviated to prevent overload while moving to the flange (7) to block the operation power by the electronic detecting unit (installation of proximate switch, etc.) to safely protect them.
How to return to the correction location of the origin
In case of re-operation after overload occurs, it returns to the original point within one rotation automatically. Therefore, it is required to prevent the power source (motor) within a short amount of time with electronic detecting device (installation of prixmate switch) in case of overload to prevent them from continuously returning to the origin.
Caution
  • In case of high frequency of rotation, there are cases where returning is not to occur well. Therefore, make sure to return to the origin in the low frequency of rotation. The number of rotation available for returning to the origin might differ according to the inertia of machines, intensity of operating part, or torque setup in the torque limiter. However, in general, it is possible to return in less than 100RPM.
  • Torque needed for the return is less than 10% of set torque.
  • Torque limiter is adjusted according to the output load conditions in the index unit output axis. It is anchored in power lock, and torque is adjusted according to the output load conditions. The amount of shaking on torque limiter shall not go beyond the following allowance. Less than 0.04m of shaking on a single side/ less than 0.04mm of radial shaking
